Paula Gwynn Grant

Paula Gwynn Grant is Secretary for Communications for The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., home of the Catholic Standard and El Pregonero archdiocesan newspapers, where she is responsible for internal and external communications. Prior to this role, Paula served for five years as Director of Communications for The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta. She is the media spokesperson and representative of the Cardinal Archbishop.

A native of Washington, D.C. (born at Providence Catholic Hospital and a graduate of both St. Jude’s Regional Catholic School for grades 1 – 8, and The Academy of the Holy Cross High School), Paula is an Emmy Award-winning television broadcaster and radio announcer with over 35 years of marketing and public relations experience. Paula has won numerous awards and is a former Miss Black America.

Paula received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio, Television and Film (with a minor in Spanish), magna cum laude, from The University of Maryland, College Park in just three years.
Paula thoroughly enjoys what she does and is grateful to God for the gifts He has given her and allows her to share.

Having served on many non-profit boards including the Mercy Care Foundation and a local Atlanta branch of the YMCA, Paula now serves on the Board of the Catholic Media Association, the Loyola on the Potomac Jesuit Retreat Center in Southern Maryland, and Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington. Paula has also served on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Communications Committee as a Consultant, at the appointment of Cardinal Wilton Gregory, for a three-year term.

Along with once serving as public relations counsel for local and national politicians including Georgia, Maryland, and D.C. legislators, Paula has also advised top medical professionals/healthcare systems, entertainment celebrities and authors. She additionally did a stint in the non-profit world as Southeast Regional Vice President of Communications and Resident Services for Mercy Housing Southeast, a national non-profit affordable housing developer for low-income families and seniors (Sisters of Mercy).

With such diverse experience throughout her career, Paula has developed a keen understanding of community relations and how to best work with the general public, the media, and grass roots communities.

Paula and her husband, Ray, are parents to a 25-year-old daughter and a 21-year-old son.
